Virtual Port Channels (vPC) vPC's, or Virtual Port Channels, are a Cisco Nexus technology. They are used to connect layer-2 devices to two switches at once. This makes it possible to create a highly available environment in the data centre. If one switch fails, the other one continues to operate.. Port Channel technology allows multiple links between two participating devices to be used to forward traffic by using a load-balancing algorithm. vPC (virtual port channel) technology allows multiple devices to form a port channel. In this sample chapter from Cisco Data Center Fundamentals , the authors discuss Ethernet port channels, including port channel modes, port channel compatibility.

Understand Virtual Port Channel (vPC) Enhancements Cisco
A virtual port channel (vPC) allows links that are physically connected to two different Cisco Nexus switches to appear as a single port channel to a third device. The third device can be a switch, server, or any other networking device that supports link aggregation technology. Eliminates Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) blocked ports.. If your new to VPC or Virtual Port Channel this is a simple article that outlines the basic overall configuration along with some terms. A VPC or Virtual Port Channel is the ability to bond together multiple switches, so that they appear as a single switch from downstream hosts. Basically it creates a single control plane.
